Kenneth & Connie Jessee
St. Paul, Virginia
Our farm lies nestled in the hills of Southwest Virginia on Route 71 in Castlewood, VA. It has been in our family for five generations. My father made his living by working on the family farm. He operated a dairy farm with Holstein cows. I developed a love for animals at a very young age. I grew up with goats, sheep, horses, cows, rabbits, etc.
I raised and sold registered Suffolk sheep for several years. The boys followed in my footsteps showing market lambs and later enjoyed showing steers. For some time we raised American Saddlebred horses and Quarter horses and still have both today. We have become actively involved with Katahdin Hair Sheep and Kiko goats.
Our goats have access to about 100 acres of grass and browse. We are blessed with rocks, ledges, meadows, and hills. Our goats thrive in this environment. Our nannies produce big and healthy individuals with a desire to live. Our “babies” are very entertaining and a delight to watch on the rocks and ledges. Their vitally and agility are amazing.
Visitors are welcomed at all times. I love to talk “goat”. We love to talk about new ideas that will promote this great breed. We are always open to suggestions on how to make our herd better and improve on our genetics. Our goal is to promote this great breed and to get other folks involved with the Kiko. If you are visiting in Southwest Virginia, then give us a call and stop by and see us. We look forward to talking with you.
